Previous Winners and Reports
Registration for 2026 is now open!
2025 - Cody Masso: 6lbs. In 2025 luck was not our side. Both the 1st and 2nd were cancelled due to foul weather. We tried to reschedule the events but the weather just refused to co-operate. We managed a single day, and the favorable weather forecast was botched which made for a tough day of fishing. We also made the decision to not reschedule the original events in the future because of this. Jim Berdini (2) Warren Hollander (1) and Cody all plucked a first 4 keeper ensuring they were fishing for free, with Jim doubling down and getting in the money as well. Cody plucked the pool winner late in the day stealing Jim's thunder and taking the top prize.
2024 - Mike Green: 10lbs. Mike secured his winnings on day 1 . He landed not only the superpool winner but he had the second biggest fish as well another 9 over. Day 2, Bruce Stout took the big fish honors went to Bruce Stout, but we didn't see the fishing we'd hoped for the second day. JP, Matt, Alex, Mike, Bruce, Katie, Brian and RJ all cashed in a first 4 keeper between the 2 days.
2023 - Matt Sorrentino: 13 lbs. Matt caught his fish on day 2. After tough fishing the first day, Capt Sam made quite a steam the second day to try some new waters and boy did it pay off. This remains the single best day of fishing we'e ever seen on these trips. 4 fish over 10 pounds and a handful more in the 7-9lb range. Doug Aives had 2 over 10! Day 1 big fish honors were claimed by by Cody and JP with an exact weight tie. First fish prize monies went to Jim (2), Cody, Matt, Doug, Alex, Mitch, Fred.
2023 - Chuck Dempsey: 11 pounds. Chuck caught his fish (day 2) on only his second time ever Blackfishing! Day 1 winner was Matt S. Daily first keeper monies went to Kurtis, Max, Gerald, Marc, Jimmy, Jake (2), Matt C.
2021 - Nick Franzoso: 10lbs. Our first official Super Pool as the newly formed NJ Fishing Club. The boarding is randomized and names are called at the dock in random order. As we announced the process, Nick and his friend Walt let me know they thought it was rigged. Walt pulled the first boarding spot and any thought of that went out the window. Nick handled this fish on the only Day we were able to sail this year.
2018 - Dave Iacono, 10.5lbs; The original superpool. This trip is what started the annual tradition. Dave was having a rough trip and not getting many bites, he actually told the captain he thought we should change locations before dropping a crab and landing back to back jumbos 8.5 and 10.5lbs respectively. He secured the win and took home the cash cementing a legacy for New Years Superpool trips.
